THE COLOURS OF A BURNT BREAKFAST – NEST @ LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL
We worked with Nest Labs on their Nest Ice cream van which they are popping up with in various spots all over London as a part of London Design Festival 2016.
For the ice cream; Nest Labs wanted a theme which related to the home and also made reference to their line of programmable, self-learning, sensor-driven, Wi-Fi-enabled thermostats, smoke detectors, and other security systems. Plus they wanted ice creams in colours that matched three the colours of their product range; white, copper and black.
Kitchen Theory were tasked with developing the ice cream concept and flavours, and so after much thought we decided up on breakfast! Why I hear you asking, let me tell you the story..
“So this has happened to us all at least once! After having abused the snooze button on your phone you wake up on cloudy Monday morning, and roll out of bed in search of your good ol’ cup of tea and a slice of toast with a generous lashing of marmalade. But almost as soon as you pop the toast in your realise just how many times you have hit snooze and embarrassing than having slept in…and just at that moment you hear a beeping.. It’s your nest smoke detector up to it’s usual vigilant job of protecting your home from the burnt toast you have just whipped up! You dash to the kitchen but it’s just too late.. You assess the toast and decide it doesn’t make the cut.. Disappointing..
